I find that it is a constant tendency to look on sadness or depression as the real, the inevitable, the only reliable feeling that there is. To let the joy flit away, and like the putting out of a candle, let the darkness smooth itself in. It feels feels natural, real, simply what one was made to feel in the quiet.
But we were no more made to be in sorrow than birds were made to slither across the earth. Our destiny, The Destiny, the Real, is joy. A joy that is tangible, that tingles in the air and causes every sense to come alive in praise of Him.
Sadness, darkness, pain- all are a shadow, and a shadow cannot withstand pressure, it cannot be stood upon, it can only hide. I do not believe that pain is at all permanent. Even if one chooses to feel pain, to pursue sadness, I do not believe it will linger forever. It will be broken, because it is not made to stay.
Joy surrounds the shadow. The shadow quivers with fear and screams louder. Joy bursts through to find a broken individual, and that individual is washed in the constant waves of that Good Ocean that cleanses all sin and all pain.
Joy is realized, and a heart finds an unhindered love for God, and gains and undistorted view of who He is: good.
